Othonna euphorbioides

Othonna euphorbioides is native to Northern Cape, central and northern Namqualand, South Africa. (from Steinkopf to Khamieskroon and further west) Grows in rather inaccessible solid granite rock domes squeezed into crevices in very exposed situations. In its local habitat, from May to August, when plants grow, the weather is cold, and temperatures sometimes dip below 0ºC.


Caring for othonna


1) Keep dry in summer temperatures to avoid rot.


2) They like full sun conditions with some partial shade, avoid afternoon sun


3) They thrive in cool temperatures


4) Water thoroughly when the leaves start to form wrinkles or go soft


5) Use well-drained, sandy soil mixture and cover the surface with small stones or a layer of pumice


6) Propagated by seeds
