Dorstenia horwoodii is found in Nugaal Province, east of the village of Eyl, on the limestone plateau overlooking the Indian Ocean, 100–150 metres above sea level. Dorstenia horwoodii grows nested in rock cracks and very small holes on top of huge boulders, on the limestone plateau.
Caring for dorstenia
1) Dorstenia are hardy plants that require minimal attention, they are great for beginners
2) They love warm weather and require regular watering
3) Dorstenia drop their leaves when there is a drastic change in environmental conditions, but the leaves grow back easily once stabilised
4) Fertilise regularly for leaf growth and frequent blooming
5) Many species are self-fertile, they expel their seeds explosively and populate nearby pots easily
