Braunsia maximiliani

Braunsia maximiliani occours only in the Clanwilliam, Piquetberg, and Vanrhynsdorp Districts, in the Western Cape and Northern Cape, South Africa. 250 - 1100 metres above sea level. This species grows in shallow pans on rocks together with moss. Rainfall around 125 mm p.a. in winter.


Caring for braunsia


1) They can be potted with lithops and conophytum as they have the same care conditions.


2) They enjoy partial shade in summer and full sun in winter, avoid afternoon sun.


3) Water moderately in active growing stage


4) Keep the soil dry in dormancy during summer


5) They do well in porous soil with excellent drainage, to prevent root rot and overwatering


6) Propagated via stem cuttings, offsets and seeds
